Successive erudite generations are built Riad Fez Maya Suites and Spa.
In the 14th century, the palace was erected by the pasha, the mayor of Fez Imperial City. The area was designated as a zone for his political arrangements as well as his private residence. In the 15th century, the palace came into the possession of the Andalusians who came from southern Spain (the Moors). They tried to restore the palace, adding their charm alongside the Arab legacies to grant it a special status.
Afterwards, the palace underwent an inherent change as it was converted into a public gallery for local arts in the 16th century. Furthermore, the exhibition became a core for local artisanal works and handicrafts that were displayed for both national and international audiences.
In 2016, Mr. Suleman, a Moroccan architect, bought the palace to honor his family. He skillfully reformed it and maintained the same architecture as before, to keep the heritage ongoing and fluid. The renovation took him 6 years, both theoretically and practically, to retrieve the same authentic value as in its original epoch.
Ideally nestled in the center of the old town, adjacent to attractions and monumental sightseeing spots, Riad Fez Maya offers breathtaking views over the holy Medina of Fez from its flowery terraces and verandas. It is only a few minutes' walk to the parking lot and services.
Riad Fez Maya Palace is crowned with palatial suites, inspired by the charm of Arabo-Andalous architecture and Moorish style, incorporating all contemporary conveniences and pleasures that are key. Wholly devoted to extreme welfare and ultimate serenity, the impressive walls are ornately shaped with Mosaic and Zellij from the 14th century. All the regal suites feature carved cedar mullions that release sun rays through Iraqi glass.
More details were meticulously assigned to the gigantic carved cedar doors, which were astonishingly well maintained. The antique luxury baldaquin bed designs and pearled curtains evoke a feeling of indulgence and overwhelming luxury. The welcoming set of intricate sofas and majestic armchairs promise ultimate coziness, with direct access to a professionally designed bureau that meets the needs of business travelers, as well as to sumptuous, well-designed bathrooms. The scent of orange and rose blossoms reflects the ambiance of "1001 Nights."
